  • Girls’ Soccer Team Heads Into Postseason Hoping Layoff Proves Beneficial

Newtown High School’s girls’ soccer team, coming off a season-ending 3-3 tie on the road with Bethel on October 22, will enter into the postseason following a long, nine-day layoff. And the Nighthawks are hopeful that the rest and wait will help and not hinder as the sixth-seeded Hawks visit No. 3 Weston in the South-West Conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, October 31, beginning at 2 pm.

  • Fresh Slate For Last Year’s Champs

Deep down inside, Marc Kenney and his returning players may still be jumping for joy, but the Nighthawks aren’t about to get caught up in last year’s Class LL state championship success as they begin a new season. In fact, Kenney doesn’t even look at his Newtown High School girls’ soccer team as defending champions, and one can’t really question that given the high level of turnover from last year’s roster.
