Oh, my. I am quite sure that Sydney Eddison’s pup, Phoebe, is still holding her paws over her eyes in dismay. Phoebe, a Jack Russell terrier, was incorrectly identified in The Newtown Bee story, August 21, about Sydney’s new book of poetry as a fox terrier. Oh, the shame of it all. Huge apologies go out to Phoebe for this mistake.

The wine at the Newtown Forest Association’s September 6 Sunset Wine Tasting Fundraiser must have been excellent. Even a sky full of lightening the latter part of the evening could not drive off the many supporters in attendance. Instead, the small room sheltering the auction donations became a full house, as did the nearby gazebo. Party on, foresters!

Well-known gardener and author Sydney Eddison got a mention in the Thursday, September 12, Home section of The New York Times for a 1989 plant trade with home and interior designer Peter Wooster. Mr Wooster’s Roxbury gardens were the focus of the article, and in one of his gardens, apparently, are lilies from Ms Eddison’s garden. Her gardens received cuttings of Mr Wooster’s brugmansia in that long-ago exchange.
