  • Julia Provey Wins 2014 Newtown Arts Festival Logo Contest

    Looking at her winning entrant for the logo for the 2014 Newtown Arts festival, artist Julia Provey noted, “I looked around Newtown and, from my imagination, I saw a musician, a juggler, an artist and a dancer, and they were all Newtown.” Admittedly, the performers in her art are derivative of people she actually knows in Newtown, she added.

  • Arts Festival Committee Announces Public Planning Meeting

    The 2014 Newtown Arts Festival Committee plans to host its first public planning meeting on Tuesday, February 18, at 7 pm. It will be in the HealingNewtown Arts Center, located on the lower level of Newtown Congregational Church at 14 West Street.

  • Arts Commission Seeking New, Original Art For 2014 Newtown Arts Festival

    Newtown Cultural Arts Commission is looking for new, original art that illustrates “Newtown Arts & Culture,” with the winning artist receiving $750 and the opportunity to see their work in myriad uses and locations. The winning image will be used to promote the 2014 Newtown Arts Festival and will appear in businesses and public spaces around Newtown and surrounding towns.

    The image will also be printed on T-shirts, posters, and other items that will be available for purchase at next year’s arts festival.
