Okie, a fluffy white Bichon Frise owned by Jody Ferraro, took the “Best in Show” honors at the town’s Sixth Annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Party on Halloween. Okie was costumed as a pimp riding in a purple Cadillac with zebra-stripe trim.

Therea Viesto helped Fantasia, who was for sale at Mount Pleasant Hospital for Animals, with her costume at the 2013 “Howl-o-ween” event held to benefit Newtown Park and Bark.

As volunteers put the final touches on a hay-hunt, other helpers at the Saturday, October 26, “Howl-o-ween” canine costume party readied additional stations. The family event was sponsored by Newtown Parks and Recreation, and benefited the Friends of Newtown Park and Back and was held on the Fairfield Hills Campus.
Activities included a relay race, a haystack treasure hunt, a hot dog toss, and a “tic-tac-paw.”

“Howl-o-ween,” a canine costume party to benefit Friends of Newtown Park and Bark, will be held Saturday October 26, from 1 to 3 pm. It will be on the campus of Fairfield Hills, near the intersection of Keating Farms Avenue and Simpson Street.
Prizes will be awarded for most original costume, scariest costume, funniest costume, dog and owner look-alike, and best in show.
