    A sparse audience of mostly local political leaders and family members did not dissuade any of the eight residents seeking to be elected or reelected to the Board of Finance from digging into specific and detailed questions and delivering often detailed and thoughtful answers during The Newtown Bee’s annual pre-election forum at Edmond Town Hall on October 20.

  • Annual Forum Will Feature Finance Board Candidates

    Continuing an annual tradition, The Newtown Bee is again planning to host a Candidates Forum, October 20, from 7 to 9 pm, in the Edmond Town Hall Theatre. This year, the forum will introduce the local slate of candidates for the Board of Finance.

    Four veteran finance board members, Chairman John Kortze, Vice Chairman Joseph Kearney, Michael Portnoy, and Harrison Waterbury, have all decided to not seek reelection.

  • Questions Sought For Bee Candidates Forum

    The annual tradition of The Newtown Bee hosting a forum for residents to meet and learn about candidates on the November ballot continues this year with a planned forum featuring six legislative contenders.

    The event is set for Tuesday, October 21, at Edmond Town Hall, with a meet and greet session in the lobby at 7 pm, and the forum running from 7:30 to 9 pm.

    Glancing around the historic Edmond Town Hall lobby where voices echoed during a brief meet-and-greet on Tuesday, October 22, incumbent Board of Education Secretary Kathryn Hamilton considered other prospective and incumbent candidates. “We’re all good; any combination of us would be good,” she observed.
