Earlier this winter several Fairfield Authority members and town Grants Coordinator Christal Preszler took a trip to Preston, where a former state facility similar to Fairfield Hills is now in that town’s hands. Unlike Newtown, however, which intends to redevelop its campus as a community and municipal asset, the town of Preston plans for the eventual sale of its property.

From prospective tenants to memorial bench locations, Fairfield Hills Authority members this month discussed a grab bag of topics.
FHA Chair Thomas Connors first noted the several parties interested in reusing the Plymouth Hall building — among them The 12/14 Foundation, The News-Times, and an advertising agency.

Ice hockey, figure skating, theaters on ice, skating programs, and skate clubs are on the list of possibilities Newtown Nighthawks high school hockey coaches are working to make a reality.
Head hockey coach Paul Esposito and goaltender coach Kris Kenny introduced the idea of a Newtown Ice Arena, a project that will cost an estimated $10 million or more, to Fairfield Hills Authority members Monday night.

The final Fairfield Hills Authority meeting of 2013 indicated changes to come for 2014.
The role of chairman has passed from James Bernardi to authority member Thomas Connors.
Noting his “last night as chair” at the December 18 meeting, Mr Bernardi said, “I’ve got to thank you all for being volunteers dedicated to making the campus better for our town. You do it because you are dedicated, you donate your time, and I am proud of the work you all do.”
