  • A New Twist: Foley Embraces Q-Poll Tie, Denies Ever Holding Lead

How’s this for bipartisanship: Republican Tom Foley and Democrats supporting Governor Dannel P. Malloy agree that Quinnipiac University’s poll declaring the race a tie is accurate — and that last month’s survey giving Foley a six-point lead was faulty.

“I think this poll is right on,” Foley said. “We never had a six-point lead.”

  • In Second Debate, Malloy Is Proud And Foley Incredulous

WEST HARTFORD — In a televised debate Tuesday night, Democratic Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Republican challenger Tom Foley met in a political Twilight Zone, each unable or unwilling to recognize the reality of the other’s Connecticut.

Malloy defied polls that show a dispirited and disapproving electorate. He claimed progress, pronouncing himself proud of resolving an inherited $3.67 billion deficit without gutting municipal aid. Foley all but suggested he was mad, seeking votes in a different dimension.

  • Letter Of Endorsement

    To the Editor:

In response to “Anti-Gun Violence Groups To Rally In Stamford,” published online on Monday, September 22, 2014:

  • Don’t Trivialize 12/14 For Political Purposes

(The following letter to Tom Foley, the Republican candidate for governor, has been received for publication.)

    Dear Mr. Foley,

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Karen Wilk, and I work at Sandy Hook School in Sandy Hook (Newtown), CT. You may have heard of us. I have worked at the school for over 17 years now and was very much present on December 14, 2012, when a troubled young man came into my beloved school and gunned down 26 people who meant the world to so many.

  • GOP Primary Contenders Argue Over Specifics

STRATFORD — Republican gubernatorial candidate John McKinney jumped at the chance to accuse his primary opponent of not offering voters a plan as detailed as his proposal to tackle future state budgets and eliminate the personal income tax on middle-class earners.

  • Local Residents Join Anti-Christie Protest In Greenwich

Dave Stowe, vice chairman of Newtown Action Alliance, joined more than 50 Newtown, Sandy Hook, and area residents in Greenwich on Monday, July 21, where at least an additional 150 people gathered to protest the appearance of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Gov Christie was fundraising in the Bell Haven area of Greenwich for Connecticut Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley.

  • A Familiar Response On Gun Violence

    To the Editor:

Having decided to join the rally in Greenwich, CT, to protest Gov Christie’s veto of gun safety legislation, I thought it wise to get something to eat before making my appearance. Upon entering the Glory Days Diner on Greenwich’s main drag, I was surprised to discover that Tom Foley and Gov. Chris Christie were expected to visit there shortly. My carpool buddy and I immediately started discussing the question we would ask them.

  • Foley Courts Gun Owners Without Promising Sandy Hook Repeal

MIDDLETOWN – Republican gubernatorial contender Tom Foley told the state’s largest gun group Tuesday night that he would block further gun-control legislation if elected, but he has no plans to seek repeal of the sweeping changes to the state’s gun laws approved last year in the wake of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
