Police said that while near Walgreens Pharmacy at 49 South Main Street about 6 pm on Saturday, May 9, a police officer noticed what he considered to be suspicious activity outside, resulting in the arrest of three people in connection with an incident in which $1,200 of counterfeit money was allegedly used to make purchases inside the store.

Police report that while on patrol in Dodgingtown about 2:35 am on January 20, they spotted a utility pole near 3 Hattertown Road that had been struck by a vehicle and had fallen down, bringing down with it some utility lines.

Following a foot pursuit midday on January 7, police caught and then arrested a New York City man who allegedly stole nearly $1,200 worth of merchandise from a South Main Street drug store in a shoplifting incident.
Police Sergeant Aaron Bahamonde said police received a call for help about 12:12 pm from Walgreens Pharmacy at 49 South Main Street, informing them that a shoplifting theft had occurred there. The store is on the northern corner of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road.

After learning that Newtown Police held a warrant for his arrest, Brian Riguzzi, 39, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., turned himself over to police at the police station about 12:30 pm on January 3 and was charged with reckless driving and with failure to drive to the right in connection with an auto accident that occurred on September 20, police said.

Eden Hill Road Accident
Motorist Jill Russell, 36, of Redding was driving a 2006 Subaru Legacy sedan northward near 71 Eden Hill Road, near the Easton town line, about 11 am on August 4, when the vehicle veered to the tight and struck a utility pole, snapping that pole.
A section of the broken utility pole landed on the auto’s trunk lid, police said. There were no injuries.
Police said they issued Russell an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Hattertown Road Incident
Police report that motorist John Tracy, 18, of Bethel was driving a 2002 Subaru Legacy SUV southward near 223 Hattertown Road about 6:05 pm on May 30, when the vehicle went off the pavement and then struck a line of wooden guardposts and some guardcabling.
The accident occurred south of Hattertown Road’s intersection with Castle Meadow Road. There were no injuries.
Police report they issued Tracy a written warning for making a restricted turn.

A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred in stopped traffic near 75 South Main Street about 7:25 am on April 14. All vehicles were traveling southward.
Police said motorist Timothy Hendrie, 57, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2007 BMW-XIC coupe, struck the rear end of a 2012 Nisan Altima sedan driven by Jill Brooks, 27, of Danbury, pushing the Nissan into the rear end of a 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Nafi Biba, 54, of Danbury.

At about 7:38 am on February 19, motorist Ian McIntyre, 52, of 76 Marlin Road, who was driving a 1998 Toyota 4-Runner SUV, stopped for traffic during heavy traffic conditions on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 10 and was then struck from behind by motorist Lawrence Arpino, 67, of Torrington, who was driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima sedan, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
