  • Free Water Sports Event For Newtown Children 7–18

The Leaps of Faith (LOF) Adaptive Skiers based in Sandy Hook will be hosting its first “Ski Newtown,” a water sports event for Newtown children ages 7–18 on Sunday, September 21, at Eichler’s Cove Marina on Lake Zoar from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This free event is designed to teach beginners how to waterski or wakeboard and help intermediate skiers/boarders advance to the next level.

  • Children Find Freedom In Water Sport Clinic

Leaps Of Faith clinic volunteer Joey Corrod shared a tube ride with participant Dave Dally during Freedom Splash, a new offering presented by Leaps of Faith Adaptive Skiers on July 31. The two laughed as their tube bounced across the boat’s wake.

  • Water Sports Camp Open To Blind, Sight-Impaired Children & Young Adults

Soaring With the Eagles, a free camp for blind or visually impaired children, is being offered this year through the Leaps of Faith (LOF) Adaptive Skiers. LOF coordinators and volunteers will be hosting the innovative four-day adaptive water sports day camp for children ages 6 to 17 from June 24-27 in Sandy Hook.

Soaring with the Eagles is the only camp of its kind in Connecticut.

  • One-Day Boating & Personal Water Craft Course, Proceeds Benefit Local Charity

A safe boating course may be the only sign of spring hidden in this month’s frigid forecast. Sandy Hook-based Leaps of Faith (LOF) Adaptive Skiers is hosting a Boating License Course on Saturday, March 22, from 8 am to 4 pm at the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road. Completion of this course will qualify registrants for their Connecticut Boating & Personal Water Craft License.
