  • Newtown Travels To Ohio For Winter Guard World Championships

    Following a season of highlights, the 18 members of the Newtown High School Varsity Winter Guard spent their spring break traveling to Dayton, Ohio, to compete among the best in the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships, which took place at the Dayton University Arena April 16-18. 

    For 12 of the girls, it was the last time they would be competing as a member of the NHS guard, and it was a bittersweet moment as they traditionally kissed the famed Tunnel Wall, which leads the guard into the Dayton Arena.

  • With Reflections From Senior Members— Preparing For The Winter Guard International In Dayton

    On Saturday, April 11, the NHS Varsity Winter Guard, performed a nearly flawless routine of their show “Blu” show at the Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Winter Guard Championships, held at Trumbull High School, and came away from the event proudly wearing silver medals in the Scholastic Open division.

  • Winter Guard Attends World Championships

    For the first time since being moved up to the Scholastic Open class level from National Scholastic A, the Newtown High School Varsity Winter Guard tossed, spun and danced their way into the semifinals of the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships held over a three-day competition in Dayton, Ohio, last week.

    The 16-member Varsity team departed just after midnight on Wednesday, April 2, for the WGI championships.
