  • Police Commission Rejects NHS Request For Oakview Road Access

    Following lengthy discussion at a September 1 session, Police Commission members, serving as the local traffic authority, rejected a request from Newtown High School officials to allow limited staff access to the school in the morning via a gated emergency accessway extending from Oakview Road.

    Around 5:30 Tuesday, June 16, mortarboards were in the air and a collective roar of applause grew inside the O’Neil Center at Western Connecticut State University as the Newtown High School’s Class of 2015 officially became high school graduates.

  • Ingersoll Automotive Donates Laptops To NHS

    Todd Ingersoll, president of Ingersoll Automotive, visited Newtown High School on Wednesday, November 5, to donate ten new laptops to the school.

    The visit was one in a number of others in the effort to deliver technology to students who otherwise would not have access to computers at home. This was the third annual donation to NHS and other schools in the local area.

    With the ten new laptops, Ingersoll Automotive of Danbury has donated 30 laptops in the last three years to NHS.

  • NHS Principal, Reed Assistant Principal— School Board Fills Administrative Positions

    The Board of Education unanimously hired Lorrie Rodrigue of Oxford to fill the position of principal at Newtown High School and Jill Bontatibus Beaudry of Newtown for the assistant principal position at Reed Intermediate School during its meeting on Tuesday, May 20.
