Ferris Acres Creamery, a family-operated ice cream stand that opened for business at 144 Sugar Street (State Route 302) in 2004, has become a popular destination for both residents and out-of-towners, seeking to enjoy the pleasures of ice cream amid the bucolic setting of a working dairy farm.
Over the years, the creamery’s reputation has grown, attracting increasingly large numbers of people to the site.

Newtown Historical Society will host its annual homes and gardens tour on Saturday, June 28. Then on Sunday, the society will host the final open house of the season at its headquarters, a program about ice cream combined with a celebration of the tenth anniversary of Ferris Acres Creamery, and a walking tour of Sandy Hook Center.
“Mainly Main Street” is the focus for Newtown Historical Society’s 2014 House & Garden Tour.

Employees of Ferris Acres Creamery celebrated in October 2011 when the ice cream stand was one of the first locations in town to reopen following Winter Storm Alfred. Today, employees and customers are all celebrating at the Ferris farm, which is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the very successful business.
