Moore Soccer Academy was started in January 2012 by former Major League Soccer midfielder Jason Moore. Mr Moore, who has always been passionate about soccer and helping the community, will offer a free soccer clinic for young Newtown athletes on Saturday, April 6, at Treadwell Park.

Prior to first pitch on opening day, the Yankees and Red Sox honored Newtown and the victims of 12/14. After pregame introductions at Yankee Stadium, with New York and Boston players still lined up on the chalk, a joint honor guard consisting of Newtown police and firefighters took the field. The victims’ names scrolled on the video board during a moment of silence. The AL East rivals also wore a ribbon patch on their uniforms to honor the victims and those affected by the shooting. The design of the ribbon was also painted on the field in front of both teams’ dugouts.

Thousands of runners and walkers — of a variety of ages — cluttered the streets of Hartford not for just the exercise, a fast time, or the competitive nature of a race but, rather, a good cause, on March 23. They participated in the Sandy Hook Run For The Families, a 5K race which was so much more than a race — a means for giving, remembering, and supporting those who have been through so much.
The event, held in honor of those lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre of December 14, pulled in $438,131 for Sandy Hook School Support Fund, and brought together community members, families, and friends, many of whom otherwise wouldn’t run.
