  • Jason M. Brower

    Jason M. Brower, 24, of Norwalk, died July 25 at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a long illness, with his family at his side. He was born April 30, 1990, son of Gina Bernini Brower and Michael Brower. A 2008 graduate of Newtown High School, he was a courageous young man who loved being a volunteer firefighter for the Botsford Fire Company in Newtown. Jason also loved NASCAR and country music. He had a big heart and was loved by many.

  • Richard F. Farkas, Sr

    Richard F. Farkas, Sr, 75, of Key West, Fla., a former resident of Newtown, died July 16. He was born to Marion and John Farkas of Bridgeport, December 26, 1938.

  • Eileen Frances Triber

    Eileen Frances Triber, 66, of Florida and formerly of Sandy Hook, the beloved wife of Julius “Buddy” Triber, died July 25 in Cape Cod. Born in Bridgeport to Eileen (Cullen) and Joseph G. Knapick, she was an area resident until moving to Clearwater, Fla., ten years ago.

  • Joseph Charles Velky, Sr

    Joseph Charles Velky, Sr, 72, of Monroe died July 20 at St Vincent Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bridgeport, November 9, 1941. Mr Velky graduated from Bullard Haven Technical School in 1959. One month later, he enlisted into the United States Navy, stationed on the USS Harwood (DD-861), serving for four years, extending his time to include the Cuban Missile Crisis.

  • Regina E. Lennon

    Regina E. Lennon, 76, a resident of Botsford since 1970, died July 22 in Danbury Hospital. She was born August 31, 1937, in Danbury, and was the daughter of the late Esther (Waters) and Clarence Lincoln.

  • Douglas T. Main, Sr

    Douglas T. Main, Sr, 76, of Basking Ridge, N.J., died peacefully July 16, surrounded by his family. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., August 19, 1937, to Mary and Douglas Main.

  • Tom Kearns

    “A man of true grit has passed on.” Tom Kearns, “T.K.,” of Sandy Hook, died July 18.“He gave it a valiant battle for five long years, having been inflicted with bone cancer. Tom was a man’s man, he knew how to look fear in the eye and he knew how to crush it. He worked the family dairy farm in Sandy Hook hand in hand with his mother, Florence, and his brother, Ed. The three made the distinguished dairy farm sparkle with pride, dignity, and enjoyment for all to behold. The three of them literally created a true touch of heaven.”

  • Geoffrey Edward Page

    Geoffrey “Jeff” Edward Page, 87, of Roxbury, formerly of Newtown, died July 15 at Bethel Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Jennie Curro Page. He was born in Athol, Mass., January 16, 1927, son of Benjamin Whitney and Caroline Blanchard Page.

  • Sharon Louise Burch

    Sharon Louise (Shepard) Burch, 52, a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook, died peacefully July 14 in the loving company of her husband, children, and extended family. She attended Newtown High School, married George William Burch on August 25, 1984, and became a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as confidant to so many who loved her for her open approach to life.

  • Betty Ann Bedini

    Betty Ann Bedini, 78, of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, died July 15 at Pope John Paul II Center, Danbury. She was the wife of Francis J. Bedini, Jr, for 54 years. She was born in Norwalk, July 20, 1935, and was a daughter of the late Mary (Eleck) and Thomas Lehotsky.
