To The Editor:

The Newtown Choral Society played to a capacity crowd last Saturday when we presented our spring concert at the Meeting House, “Centuries of Hit Parades.”

Director Mary Andreotta led us in singing the most popular songs from six centuries, beginning in the 16th Century and ending in the 21st, when we sang a rocking rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.”

As always, our accompanist, Susan Anthony-Klein, supported us with her exhilarating concert performance.

We were delighted to welcome back Reed faculty member Bob Nolte as percussionist, and we thank our page turner, Jennie Anthony Bogue.

We thank Charles Zukowski for recording our performance. We thank Chuck Margoulas, Dick Zang, Jack Tanner, Jeff Jackson, Jeff Dvorin, Clive Beddoe-Stephens, Kenneth Lerman, and Lee Field for transporting our equipment.

We thank our ticket takers, Jennifer Clark and Sal Martone.

The choir would specifically like to thank Nancy Dvorin for creating and supporting our social media and Peg Heetmann, our longtime treasurer.

We thank The Bee for its invaluable support in publicizing our concert.

We thank Jeff and Karen Jackson for hosting our after-concert party at their gracious home.

Finally, as always, we must thank my husband, Kenneth, for his computer expertise, his patience, and his muscle.

The Newtown Choral Society, now entering its 32nd year, will begin rehearsals for its winter concert in September. We welcome new members from all area towns and have openings in all voices. Our soloists come from our membership.
