Free Flu Clinic Set For January 6

The Visiting Nurse Association of Newtown is sponsoring a free flu clinic on Saturday, January 6, from 9 am to noon in the old courtroom on the lower level of Edmond Town Hall.

Flu shots are offered to Newtown residents of all ages. The vaccine will be administered under the direction of nurses from the Danbury VNA.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this outstanding benefit to the residents of Newtown,” said Newtown VNA President Chris Weimels.

Flu vaccine has been in short supply across the state.

“Coming at the most appropriate time, we are fortunate, indeed, to be able to secure an additional source of vaccine which can provide almost 400 more doses,” said VNA Vice President Mae Schmidle.

“We want to make sure that any Newtown resident who wants a flu shot can get one free. No prearranging or signing up is necessary and, of course, no cost.”

The clinic is being sponsored and paid for by the VNA “as one more benefit we provide for residents of Newtown,” Mrs Schmidle said.
