Raymond C. Michaud of Newtown passed peacefully into the Lord’s hands on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and patriarch for his family. We will always cherish the way he laughed, and how easily he could meaningfully connect with anyone who engaged with him.

Born September 7, 1941, in Bridgeport, Raymond served in both the U.S. Navy Reserves, and active duty U.S. Army as Technical NCO.

After serving in the Armed Forces, Raymond enjoyed a long career as a pioneer in developing the science of microlithography. He was one of the individuals responsible for creating the process which produces the microchips that have transformed the world as we know it today.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; his daughter Liana; his son Marc; two grandchildren, Nancy and Alexander; and his two siblings, Eileen and Allan.

The family will be holding a private service. Condolences may be sent to 2 Black Walnut Drive, Newtown CT 06470.

Raymond C. Michaud.

Sorry for the late note but just found out. I worked with Ray for many years and learned much from him. His sense of humor and laugh were always welcome in good times and bad.

I, like Bruce, just learned of Ray’s passing. I worked with Ray for nearly 20 years. Ray was one of Perkin-Elmer’s most knowledgable thin film physicist. He played a critical role in developing optical coatings for many defense related programs and was instrumental in creating optical films for Perkin-Elmer’s lithograph tools. Ray was diligent, hard working, and always well thought of by his colleagues. He will be missed.
