Michael R. Mathews

US Marine Corps Veteran

Michael R. Mathews, 73, of Monroe, died December 28, at Danbury Hospital, after a long illness. He is survived by his five children Jeff  Mathews, and his wife Sue, Gregg Mathews, and his wife Betsy, and Shawn Mathews, all of Newtown, Debbie Toth and Kris Mathews. He is also survived by one sister; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Rosanne.

Mr Mathews was most proud of being a Marine who served his country from 1954 to 1957. He then went on to work for NCR for numerous years and later became vice president for Waterbury Pen Co. for many years. He was a true trooper to the very end. Special thanks to all of the staff at Danbury Hospital and Danbury Dialysis. He was loved by all.

Funeral services took place January 2, in Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, Monroe.
