CT Woolcrafters, which launched early last year and has continued with monthly meetings at the town library, will host its first meeting of the new year next week.

In 2019, CT Woolcrafters sponsored a World Wide Knit-In Public Event that was attended by more than 30 crafters, demonstrated skills while participating in the Newtown Arts Festival, and, most recently, donated hand-knit Peace Pal dolls to Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

At its January 14 meeting, the group will discuss goals for 2020. Newcomers and regular attendees are all welcome.

According to CT Woolcrafters Founder Nancy Gould, “We need your feedback.

“What skills do you want to learn at our meetings in 2020? Which community outreach project should we commit to? Which local events do we wish to be a part of?

“Please plan to attend this important meeting,” she added. “Your feedback and suggestions will help us put together the schedule for CT Woolcrafters Fiber Arts Community in 2020.”

CT Woolcrafters will be at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, for a 10 am gathering. Meetings run until approximately 1 pm. They are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

In addition to planning for the year ahead, the January 14 meeting will also including a swap and sell.

“Bring your partial skeins, your white elephants, your UFOs,” Ms Gould encourages. “Bring your books that no longer speak to you, the homeless tools that have cluttered your space.

“Find the perfect color mohair that you didn’t know you were looking for, or that issue of a knitting magazine with the pattern your mom knit when you were 12,” she added. “Donating, trading, bartering, and selling are all good. De-stash you way and take home a new-to-you fiber treasure.”

Last year, she said, “some of us de-stashed our abundance of materials and books,” she said.

Reservations are not needed, but additional is available by contacting Ms Gould at ctwoolcrafters@gmail.com. The group is also on Facebook, at CTWoolcrafters.
