Newtown Inland Wetlands Commission (IWC) met in the Newtown Municipal Center’s Council Chambers for a public hearing regarding a large warehouse in Hawleyville on January 12.

Application IW #21‐36 by Wharton Equity Partners, LLC, is for a property located at 10 Hawleyville Road and 1 Sedor Lane.

According to the agenda, the applicant is proposing to construct a 344,880 square foot warehouse building and associated site improvements including parking, stormwater management, driveway, and wetland crossing.

IWC Chair Sharon Salling started off the meeting by saying there was a “request by the applicant to open the hearing but then to immediately table it.”

After the application was read, it was tabled without the opportunity for any discussion from the commission or public.

The next scheduled IWC meeting will be Wednesday, January 26, at 7:30 pm in the Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street, Multipurpose Room #3.
