Kindergarten News

By Rachel Buethe and Kaitlin Eckert

Last Friday, Mrs Bushka and Mrs Pirone’s kindergarten classes had their “Marble Jar Celebration.” At the beginning of the year all four am and pm classes had started with an empty “Marble Jar.” Marbles were rewarded when the class was good and taken away if someone misbehaved. When the “Marble Jar” was filled up, it was time to celebrate. A fun day, including a Magic School Bus movie and delicious doughnuts, was had by everyone!

The kindergartners are starting to read short stories. “It made me feel so happy to do it by myself,” says Emma Sabin after reading The Biggest Cookie in the World. Each kindergarten class made a graph out of their favorite ice creams then discussed the results. In science they are learning about the five senses.

To celebrate the 100th day of school, each child in the whole grade is going to be assigned a number 1-100. When each child receives a number they’ll get a piece of paper and form their number out of cheerios, cotton balls, pasta noodles, anything. The number of kindergartners was only about eighty, so Mrs Attanasio’s fist grade class is participating as well. When the project is finished, outside the kindergarten rooms will be the decorative numbers 1 to 100!

As you can see, Mrs Pirone and Mrs Bushka are keeping the kindergartners busy, and they enjoy every minute of it!
