Stephanie N. Licht

Stephanie N. Licht of Newtown received her master of science degree in physical therapy on December 18, 1999, from the University of Miami School of Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy, in Coral Gables, Florida. As an honors scholar, she was the recipient of the Elizabeth C. Lane Scholarship. She participated in an extensive research project concerning prosthetics and functional capabilities of amputees, published that abstract for this research in Physical Therapy and presented it at the National APTA Conference in Washington, DC. A 1992 graduate of Newtown High School, Licht received her BA in psychology in 1996 from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, and studied in London through the Boston University London Internship Program. She is the daughter of Peter and Susan Licht of Newtown.

Midshipman Michael Messemer of Newtown has been named to the Superintendent’s List for the fall 1999 semester at the United Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. Michael is a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School.

Jill M. Wysocki, Jennifer C. Chion and Sean M. Hughes were named to Quinnipiac College’s fall 1999 dean’s list.

Erin Cavanaugh, a resident of Botsford and a member of the class of 2001 at Providence College, has been inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. Erin is an elementary/special education major at the college.

Patrick Kelley, son of Mary and Michael Kelley of Bridge End Farm Lane, Sandy Hook, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Patrick graduated from Newtown High School in June of 1999.

Lauren Cross

Lauren Cross, a freshman psychology major at the University of Indiana, has just been inducted into Delta Delta Delta. The Delta Omicron chapter of Delta Delta Delta is situated at Indiana University Bloomington.

Jessica Schlier, the daughter of Brian and Dorothy Schlier of Old Purdy Station Road and a junior chemistry major at Wesleyan University, was the sole undergraduate student invited to attend the 18th Annual Meeting on Kinetics and Dynamics at the University at Massachusetts-Amherst on January 29, 2000. Jessica gave a presentation on her 1999 summer research project conducted at Connecticut College entitled “The Kinetic and Mechanistic Study of 1,1,2-Trimethylcyclopropane” to an audience of graduate students and professors specializing in kinetics. Jessica is a 1997 Newtown High School graduate.

Eric Young, son of Tom and Gail Young, has made the dean’s list for the Fall Semester at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Eric graduated from Newtown High School in 1998 and is in his sophomore year at Pratt as a graphic design major.
