Coast Guard Changes Officers

SOUTHBURY — The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 24-12, based in Southbury, held a change of watch ceremony recently at the Oxford House restaurant. Robert L. Bowolick of Heritage Village is the new flotilla commander.

James Walsh, Jr, immediate past commander, will serve as vice flotilla commander, vessel examiner, and also public education officer. Staff officers for 2001 also include Jose Neves, public affairs; Peter Popielarczyk, publications; Karl Selling, secretary and records; Helen Hatfield, career counselor; and Robert Bowolick, information services.

Flotilla 24-12 is part of the USCG Auxiliary Division 24 based at the Coast Guard station in New Haven. The flotilla holds public education classes leading to the State of Connecticut boating certificate and also conducts vessel safety checks at all the area boat ramps during the boating season.
