NEW YORK CITY â A six-session course titled, âAntique & Period Jewelryâ is being offered at the 92nd Street âYâ for the seventh year. Once again, this popular hands-on course will be taught by Edith Weber, a former adjunct professor of jewelry appraisal studies at Long Island University. It will begin on Tuesday, February 20 and conclude on Tuesday, March 27. Class hours are 6:30 to 8 pm.
In addition to discussing the romance and history of antique jewelry, Weber will explore methods of jewelry identification, as well as techniques of evaluation. Students will have an opportunity to examine examples of different types of jewelry at every class session.
Weber has been actively engaged in buying, selling and appraising antique jewelry for 47 years. She has lectured at museums throughout the country, and has written more than a dozen articles about this subject.
