DUI Arrest

While on patrol about 3:19 am on January 25, police said they spotted motorist Steve Dossantos, 20, of Milford, who was asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, which was parked at the closed Friendly Service Station at 151 South Main Street.

Police said that they then investigated and charged Dossantos with driving under the influence.

After processing the case at the police station, Dossantos paid $100 bail and was released from custody for a February 12 appearance in Danbury Superior Court, police report.

Honda Crash

Motorist Kathleen Dasilva, 18, of Shelton was driving a 1997 Honda Civic coupe eastward on snowy, slick pavement near 182 Berkshire Road at about 10:30 pm January 17, when the vehicle inadvertently went off the roadway and struck a residential mailbox, police said.

Dasilva was not injured. Police verbally warned her for traveling too fast for conditions.

BMW Collision

Motorist Daniel Greenberg, 52, of Monroe was driving a 2004 BMW 325 X-i sedan southward near 352 South Main Street and was approaching that street’s intersection with Swamp Road at about 4:30 pm January 20, when a noncontact vehicle pulled out from Swamp Road and turned left onto southbound South Main Street in front of the BMW, police report.

The BMW then steered to the right to avoid a collision with the other vehicle, but the BMW struck some curbing, police said. The BMW got a flat tire and other possible damage, police said. Greenberg was not injured.

The unidentified noncontact vehicle continued driving southward, police said. Police took no enforcement.

DUI Charge

Police report that they spotted motorist Whitney Erin John, 20, of Danbury driving westward in the eastbound lane of Wasserman Way, near Nunnawauk Road, at about 7 am January 27, so they stopped her to investigate.

Police report they gave John field sobriety tests, after which they charged her with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

After posting $100 bail, John was released from custody for a February 5 court appearance, according to police.

 

Chevy Vs Honda

Motorist Amy Hosseinbukus, 36, of New Rochelle, N.Y., who was driving a 2005 Honda station wagon, was  waiting at a red traffic signal on westbound Mt Pleasant Road, at its intersection with Hawleyville Road, at about 5:23 pm January 25, when westbound motorist Christine Gibbs, 50, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet sedan, struck the Honda from behind, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Gibbs violations for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, for failure to have automotive insurance, and for a motor vehicle registration problem.

 

Travel Speed

Police report that while using a laser-based speed detection device on Wasserman Way, near Mile Hill Road South, on the afternoon of January 22, they spotted motorist Jorge Cedeno, 39, of Derby driving 52 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone.

Police stopped Cedeno to investigate and charged him with traveling too fast for conditions, driving with a suspended license, and failure to notify the state of an address change for his driver’s license.

Cedeno posted $100 bail and was released for a February 5 court appearance.

Berkshire Deer

Motorist Cary Gradia, 48, of Brookfield was driving a 1998 Honda Civic sedan westward on Berkshire Road and was approaching Zoar Road at about 10:16 pm January 25, when a deer ran onto the road and collided with the auto, police said. Gradia was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

DUI Arrest

Police report that at about 2:30 am on January 27, while on patrol, they spotted motorist Segundo Pucha, 39, of Bridgeport driving southward on South Main Street and crossing into the northbound travel lane, near Sand Hill Plaza.

Police said they stopped Pucha near Cold Spring Road to investigate, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving without a license.

After processing, Pucha posted $500 bail and was released for a February 12 court appearance.

Main Street Accident

About 12:30 pm January 22, police report an accident on Main Street, at its hazardous intersection with Church Hill Road.

Police said motorist Patrick Kelley, 26, of 8 Mile Hill Road South, who was driving a 2006 Acura TSX sedan, struck the rear end of a 1995 Toyota Camry sedan driven by motorist Shameema Hossain, 41, of 5 Bobcat Lane. There were no injuries.

Kelley received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said. Hossain received an infraction ticket for driving with an out-of-state driver’s license after having lived in Connecticut for more than 30 days, according to police.

Hawleyville Collision

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 5:37 pm January 25 at the hazardous four-way intersection of Hawleyville Road, Currituck Road, and Obtuse Road.

Police report that motorist Michael Shecora, 63, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet sedan, was attempting to enter Hawleyville Road, as motorist Patricia Martin, 44, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2002 Honda station wagon, was traveling northward on Hawleyville Road.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Shecora a written warning for a stop sign violation.

I-84 DUI

State police said that at about 9:15 pm January 21, they saw a vehicle with very darkly tinted windows driving on Interstate 84’s Exit 11 entrance ramp, so they stopped it to investigate.

State police said they smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle, after which they called in a police dog to investigate. The dog found some marijuana in the vehicle, state police said.

State police charged motorist Chavon Sheppard, 20, of Waterbury with driving under the influence, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and with a window tinting violation.

Sheppard was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on February 4 to answer the charges.

Four MV Charges

While on patrol about 7:50 am January 20, state police spotted motorist Esther Cruz, 21, of Danbury driving a Mazda about 90 to 95 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, so they stopped her to investigate.

Sate police charged Cruz with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving without automotive insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

After processing, state police released Cruz on $1,000 bail for a February 4 court appearance.

Highway DUI

At about 1:48 am January 18, state police spotted a vehicle being driven erratically on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, so they stopped its driver to investigate.

State police then charged motorist Denis Lucarelli, 56, of Brookfield with driving under the influence, a vehicle registration violation, and a travel lane violation.

Lucarelli posted $500 bail for a February 4 court appearance.

Dodge Crash

About 2:50 pm January 25, motorist June Hurley, 46, of 74 Waterview Drive was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon in the right lane of eastbound Interstate-84, near Exit 9, when she lost control of the auto, and then skidded off the left road shoulder, striking metal-beam guardrailing on the highway median, state police said. The auto was destroyed in the crash, but Hurley was not injured, state police said. Police verbally warned Hurley for failure to drive in the established lane.

DUI Arrest

Police report they stopped motorist David B. McDougall, 45, of Otis, Mass., on Route 302 about 9:25 pm January 27, because he was driving across the road’s center line.

After giving McDougall field sobriety tests, police charged him with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.

Police said they held McDougall on $1,000 bail for a January 28 court appearance.

Multiple Charges

Police report that an investigation about 10:46 am January 28 on Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center determined that motorist Cory Peterson, 24, of Southbury had some motor vehicle violations.

Additionally, a search of the vehicle driven by Peterson turned up some drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police charged Peterson with driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of marker plates, failure to have automotive insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After processing the case, police released Peterson on a written promise to appear in court February 12.

Newtown police then turned over Peterson to Southbury police, who wanted him on an arrest warrant for a previous incident.

Volvo Vs Deer

Motorist Cheryl Themel, 50, of 19 Brookwood Drive was driving a 1995 Volvo 850 sedan westward on Sugar Street, near Drummers Lane, about 5:43 pm January 28, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the auto, police said, Themel was not injured, police said.  

 

Sports Car

About 8:20 pm January 26, motorist Livia Mendoza, 25, of New Milford was driving a 1996 Mazda Miata on Currituck Road, near its intersection with Butterfield Road, when she swerved to avoid colliding with a deer, but lost control of the auto and struck a stone wall, police said.

Mendoza was not injured. Police said that Mendoza failed to drive to the right on a curve and was driving without a license.

Moving Violations

Police report they stopped motorist Mariel Brown, 23, of 19 Settlers Lane about noon on January 29, after they spotted her driving 51 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone near 117 Toddy Hill Road. Police charged her with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license. Police released Brown on a written promise to appear in court on February 13.

Ford Vs Deer

About 5:19 pm January 29, motorist Jeanette Getting, 44, of Danbury was driving a 1993 Ford Explorer westward on Route 302, when a deer ran onto the road and collided with the vehicle, police said. Getting reported pain after the accident and was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital, police said. Police took no enforcement.

Church Hill Road

About 6:39 pm January 28, motorist Helen Northrop, 64, of 86 Alpine Drive, who was driving a 2004 Mercury Sable, exited a parking lot at 61 Church Hill Road and collided with a 1996 Ford Taurus being driven westward on Church Hill Road by Dustin Gill, 17, of 10 Maple Drive, police said.

Northrop declined treatment by ambulance volunteers, police said. Police issued Northrop a violation for failure to grant the right of way.

Audi Collision

Police report that motorist Charles R. Shambelan, Jr, 43, of 16 Cemetery Road was driving a 2006 Audi A-3 sedan westward on Route 302 about 7:07 pm January 28, when a deer ran out onto the road.

Shambelan tried to avoid contact with the animal, but the vehicle and deer collided, police said. Shambelan was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Multiple Charges

Police said they saw motorist Danielle McDaniel, 21, of New Milford crossing over the road’s center line on Berkshire Road, near Lone Oak Meadows, about 1:26 am January 31, so they stopped her to investigate.

After investigating, police charged her with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering with police, and second-degree forgery.

Police held McDaniel on $5,000 bail for an appearance later that day in Danbury Superior Court.
