Masons To Host CT CHIP Program At Library This Weekend

Hiram Lodge #18 will sponsor a Connecticut Child Identification Program (CT CHIP) on Saturday, March 3, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The program will be ongoing from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm. The program offers parents or guardians an opportunity to obtain positive identification for their child/children for safekeeping at no cost.

Participants receive a complete ID package, called a “Purple Pack,” that includes each child’s height and weight, fingerprints, a dental impression and cheek swab, plus a DVD disk which has a video and still photo of each child.

The recorded interview and still photo is burned directly onto a disc that can be viewed by only Connecticut law enforcement if and when the parent turns it over to them to search for their missing child. Together with the DNA sample and dental impression, these identifying items provide a powerful identification and recovery tool.

Since its inception in January 2003, CT CHIP has benefited from the more than $220,000 provided by Connecticut Freemasons to provide the comprehensive Child ID service. More than 40,000 Connecticut families have taken advantage of the program.
