Occupation: I’m an independent Aflac insurance agent. I work out of my 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. It’s my mobile office.

Family: My husband Scott and I have been married 28 years. I’m a mother of two. Christopher is 27 and married to Susan, and Dana is 25 and married to Michael Gorman. I have two grandchildren. Kayla Marie is 7 and Dana’s daughter. Christopher and Susan have Andrew Kyle, who is 2. Both live nearby, Christopher in New Milford and Dana just on the Trumbull/Bridgeport line.

Pets: I have a miniature Schnauzer. Her name is Mitzie and she’s 2 years old, a puppy still.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve been in Newtown for 4½ years. We moved here from Norwalk.

What do you like to do in your free time? What I love to do is sketch, read, walk my dog, and play Wii. I want enough playtime to beat the living daylights out of the Wii boxing game. It’s a great way to get rid of frustration and stress. I also belong to a book club. I’m a member of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and the Woman’s Business Development Council. My greatest joy, though, is playing with my grandchildren.

What are you reading now? Right now, I’m reading Who Are You and What Do You Want, by Mick Ukleja. It’s a self-help book. I strongly believe in improving oneself.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Maui. I’ve only been there once and would love to get back again. It felt so serene in Maui, so much a part of nature. I also enjoy Block Island, and have been there several times. I love the way that it is so quaint. It’s a small island and I can get on my bike and ride from end to end, with lots of little private beaches along the way so that you can just get away from all the craziness of day to day living.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s just a quaint, small town, and so quiet. I’m a country gal at heart and very family oriented. I enjoy trying to get involved in the community as best I can. I’m part of the Newtown Chamber of Commerce, and I’m looking for a spiritual home, a church.

If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? I would travel to the future. I would love to see the world anew. I always try to not look back.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Keep moving forward. Life will give you lemons once in awhile. But I don’t like to make lemonade; I just throw the lemons out and look for a better harvest.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I think that it’s that woman’s pleasure that we love to indulge in: chocolate. There is that chocoholic part of me. Raisinets are one of my weaknesses, and Dove Bars; and now Werther’s has come out with chocolate wafers swirled with caramel that are very addicting.
