Parent advisor Ryan Quinn has announced that Boy Scout Troop 70 of Newtown has a fundraiser underway to support healthcare workers.

“If you are looking for ways to support both our local restaurants as well as our heroic doctors/nurses/hospital staff that are saving lives daily, look no further,” states Quinn. “Boy Scout Troop 70, of Newtown, Connecticut has come up with a plan to support both at once. We are collecting money and/or gift certificates from your favorite local restaurants. All funds collected will be used to purchase additional gift cards from our many local, independent restaurants, and in turn, we will be donating all gift cards collected to the tireless ER/ICU staff of Danbury Hospital. (If we are able to raise enough money we will donate to other locations as well). This is a multipronged solution to helping vulnerable restaurants in our community, as well as those who are giving so much to help any and all who are directly affected by COVID-19.”

To support Troop 70’s fundraiser visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-restaurants-amp-med-professionals-together?sharetype=teams&member=4093066&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_na+share-sheet&rcid=4ad854718bbf4633b2c45c558a45c080; or drop off cash/check/gift card donations from local restaurants to Ryan Quinn. (Personal message Quinn for address; there will be a box set up there for collection); or, you can paypal/venmo/zelle Quinn, again, personal message him for that information.

This will be an ongoing campaign, according to Quinn, “that will hopefully run as long as these folks are affected by this crisis. Thank you for any and all donations, whether large or small; they are all appreciated.”
