Teleconference On ‘Living with Grief:

Ethical Dilemmas At The End Of Life’

DANBURY — The Danbury Hospital Ethics Committee and the Regional Hospice of Western, Connecticut, Inc will co-sponsor a teleconference produced by the Hospice Foundation of America on “Living With Grief: Ethical Dilemmas at the End of Life” on Wednesday, April 20.

 Registration takes place from 1 to 1:30 pm, and the program will be broadcast in the Danbury Hospital John C. Creasy Center for Health Education Auditorium from 1:30 to 4 pm. A panel discussion by members of the Danbury Hospital Ethics Committee follows from 4 to 4:45 pm. Park free in the Blue Visitor’s Parking lot, Hospital Avenue entrance.

The teleconference moderator is Cokie Roberts, ABC News political commentator and National Public Radio senior news analyst. A panel will examine issues regarding the social perspectives of medical ethics and how various health care settings may influence ethical decisions in hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices.

 The panel will include ethicists, educators, gerontologists, and hospice experts who will define, differentiate, and demonstrate the interrelationships between values, ethics, and law in health care settings, and examine how cultural differences may influence ethical choices. The featured panelists include Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, Mdiv; Charles Coor, PhD; Richard Fife, PhD; Jack Gordon, Chairman, HFA; Bernice Harper, PhD; Bruce Jennings, MA; William Lamers, MD; Richard Payne, MD; and Joanne Reifsnyder, RN, PhD.                                            

  The “Living With Grief” teleconference is free and open to the public. CEU certificates are provided with a $25 processing fee.
