To the Editor:

On behalf of the entire Sandy Hook 5k Organizing Committee, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came together for the Sandy Hook 5k and Kids Run on March 28, 2015! We had roughly 1,200 runners and 200 kids run through the finishing arches at FFH despite the freezing temps and blowing snow. You made the day a huge success!

Thank you to Matt Memoli and the NHS Baseball Team for accompanying the smiling speedy kids in the Kids Run and to the NHS National Honor Society and returning volunteers handing out the Ben's Bells Medals making every finisher feel like a champion as they crossed the line. Thank you to St Rose's Father Bob and to Jen Caraluzzi, our National Anthem singer, for again lifting us up with your beautiful prayer and song. Thank you to the amazing Donna Moxham for leading the kids warm-ups and to American Ninja Warrior Weatherman Joe Moravsky for leading the 5k warm-ups. And to Sparticus for giving us warmth and comfort along the way. A special thank you to our police, teachers, EMT's, volunteer mental health providers and other first responders on and off the course for your strong support, and especially to our firemen who walked the course in full gear finishing all together. Truly inspirational!

Thank you to NYA and to our other generous sponsors who covered the cost of the event allowing 100 percent of all entry fees/ donations to go directly to the chosen non-profit Foundations of the Sandy Hook Families and to The Newtown Sandy Hook Community Fund to help meet the mental health needs of our entire community.

Our race volunteers are the heart and sole of this event, and we are proud to be a part of this community!  We look forward to working with you all again next year! Love Runs Through...

Sincerely,

Laura Nowacki and Jenn Burns
