Leon F. Billman

Leon F. Billman, 84, of Marstons Mills, Mass., formerly of Sandy Hook, died April 1. Born July 13, 1930, in New Oxford, Penn., he grew up in Bronx, N.Y., and was the son of the late Helen and George Billman.

He worked for the Grand Union Co. in Mount Kisco, N.Y., and retired from Fairfield Hills Hospital to Cape Cod, in 1994, from Sandy Hook.

Mr Billman enjoyed his family, candlepin bowling with the Barnstable Newcomers Club, Patriots football, and playing pool with his friends. He was also treasurer of the Barnstable Triad and had been a volunteer with the Barnstable Police Department at its Hyannis substation.

His wife of 37 years, Linda Knapp Billman; five children and their spouses, Jacqueline Bradshaw of North Carolina, Douglas and Judi Markland of Riverdale, N.Y., Leon Jr and Kathy Billman of Lake Carmel, N.Y., Christine and Patrick Pender of South Easton, Mass., and William and Juli Hanson of Greenbackville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Timothy Chapman, Kristin Chapman, Victoria Billman, Shannon Pender, David Pender, Sydney Hanson, and Taylor Hanson; four great-grandchildren; a brother, George Billman, Jr, and his wife Evie, of Hanover, Penn.; and a sister, Shirley Conot of Yonkers, N.Y., survive Mr Billman. A granddaughter, Jennifer Chapman predeceased him.

A visiting hour and service will take place from 10 to 11 am, Saturday, April 4, at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, Mass., followed by a memorial service beginning at 11 am.
