‘Filtered Senses’ Opens Sunday

BROOKFIELD — A new exhibition of contemporary metalwork by 15 national profile artists will open in the Lynn Tendler Bignell Exhibition Gallery at Brookfield Craft Center on Sunday, April 9. Entitled “Filtered Senses,” the show will then continue through June 4. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.

Guest curator Charles Lewton-Brain, a jewelry, sculpture, author and teacher from Canada, invited a select group of contemporary metalsmithing artists to create pieces specifically for the Brookfield show. The artists were invited to focus on the theme of “how we filter our senses.” While the participating artists are primarily known for their work in jewelry, many of the pieces included in “Filtered Senses” are purely sculptural and highly narrative.

Brookfield Craft Center is at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25), just above the four corners intersection with Route 7. For additional information, contact BCC at 775-4526.
