Occupation: I retired in 1987 as a sales engineer for the TRANE Company, which made heat and air conditioning equipment. I attended Wooster School in Danbury and Lafayette College. While in the marines, I attended the University of Tennessee. I served in the Korean War for about a year as an airborne intercept operator. I flew 67 combat missions with excellent pilots.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for 44 years. We bought land on Toddy Hill Road before we were married. I was born in Middletown, N.Y., and lived in New Jersey and various communities in Fairfield County during my years in Connecticut. I remember the hurricane of 1938 when I lived in Easton. I couldn’t get home from school on the bus because a tree came down across the road. I had to walk home.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: Growth of the town. I was a member of Planning and Zoning in the late 60s, early 70s. We used to talk about the prediction about a megalopolis that would be between New York and Boston, and we kind of laughed. It looked to us like we had a good balance with lots zoned for one, two, and three acres. With as much growth as we’ve had, I’m surprised at the houses that are still being built.

Family: My wife Marjorie and I have been married for 44 years. We have two children. Scott is a builder, and he and his family live in Utah. Cindy is a world traveler, 26-mile marathan runner, and veterinary assistant. She lives in Fair Oaks, Calif. Both went through the entire Newtown School system. Scott went to American University and Cindy to Rutgers.

Pets: Sam the cat and Zeke II, a yellow lab.

Hobbies: I play golf and spend at least half a day every day on crop circle investigation.

Favorite Books and Authors: I read all the time, mostly scientific topics. I read a lot about the pyramids, and their design and construction.

Favorite TV Show: I enjoy the Learning or Discovery channels. There are interesting revelations on them sometimes.

Organizations: I have been a director for 30 years and president for eight years of the Newtown Forest Association. I was a member when Rev Paul Cullens was president. It is the oldest land trust in Connecticut. It was formed in 1923 and oversees 1,000 acres today. I am a United States coordinator for the Center for Crop Circle Studies. This year I am going to Cricklade College in Andover, England where I will be a speaker at the annual symposium on crop circles. I have also been lecturing from Vermont to Washington, DC, for ten years on crop circles. I have lectured to the recreation division of the United Nations, where members of different delegations will sit in to hear speakers. You get some interesting questions from them. I am a member of PEER, a scientific organization based in Cambridge, Mass. I also am a member of the Society for Scientific Exploration, which sponsors seminars on various topics. I thoroughly enjoy going to seminars and conventions with a subject being taught for two to four days.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: The transformation of Fairfield Hills Hospital from an active facility with up to 1,600 people to seeing all that activity diminished, to today, being empty and being sold. It all came about because of changes in medicine and ways of handling disturbed people. I remember the great freight train wreck at Church Hill Road about 1959. Things were disrupted here for two or three days. Also, there have been five different club houses for Newtown Country Club.

Favorite Vacation Spot: My favorite spot is Wiltshire County, England. It used to be Venice, Fla.

Personal Philosophy: I’m so busy. If I wake up in the morning and think I accomplished something the day before, that’s a good feeling. The follow up to that is, will this day be a good one as well? Will I get something done today?
