During two assemblies on Tuesday, April 1, Middle Gate Elementary School students learned what to expect when the school celebrates its “Middle Gate Loves To Read Week” April 7 to 11.

As Middle Gate Language Arts Consultant Mary Blair explained during both assemblies, a number of activities are planned for Middle Gate Loves To Read Week.

Students will test their knowledge with a Books Trivia Contest, author Sara Pennypacker is scheduled to visit the school, a “Wear Your Words on Your Shirt Day” will be held, guest readers will visit the school, a Family Literacy Night is planned, and students are invited to bring beach towels, sunglasses, and a book to read in the school library throughout the week for “Fun in the Sun Reading” time.

Next week, Ms Blair said, will be “so jam packed with amazing activities and fun.”

Students were also prepared for Middle Gate Loves To Read Week by a student-run presentation that included examples of what they will do during the weeklong reading celebration and a song by the “MG Direction,” a spoof on the band One Direction.

Middle Gate Elementary School students performed a skit on Tuesday, April 1, for their fellow students to help prepare the school for “Middle Gate Loves To Read Week,” which will run April 7 to 11.
