Berkshire Road Collision

A two-vehicle accident happened in a line of traffic on eastbound Berkshire Road near Newtown High School about 7:05 am on March 26, police report.

Police said motorist Herbert Flynn, 43, of 6 Watch Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Subaru Legacy sedan, struck the rear end of a 2006 Ford Freestyle SUV driven by Carmela Luzi, 23, of Southbury.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Flynn a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

I-84 Accident

State police report a two-vehicle accident at the end of the of the large off-ramp for Exit 11 of Interstate 84 at about 7:25 am on April 2.

In that incident, motorist Joeline Wruck, 52, of 6 Fairchild Drive, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla, struck the rear end of a 2010 Nissan Sentra driven by Mark Schilling, 36, of Danbury, state police said.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Poorhouse Road Burglary

Sometime between 8 am and 6 pm on April 2, someone made forced entry into a house on Poorhouse Road, police said. The burglar apparently entered the house by kicking in a rear door. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer Paula Wickman at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Sex Charges

Police report that at about 3:45 pm on April 3, after learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a male youth turned himself over to police at the police station and was charged with four counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.

The arrest stems from an ongoing investigation that police have been conducting into a report they received on January 3. Police did not disclose details on the case. Police said the unidentified youth was born in 1995.

The youth turned himself over to police in the presence of his mother into whose custody he was released for an April 15 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court, police said.

Police did not disclose the defendant’s identity due to his age. Juvenile court proceedings are held in closed session.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, John Dosky, 20, of 15 Jeremiah Road turned himself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of April 4 and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court and with driving under suspension.

Police said that the original charge stems from a February 14 motor vehicle incident in Sandy Hook.

After processing, Dosky was released on $500 bail for an April 18 court appearance.

Shut Road

Police are investigating incidents in which someone sometime between 7 pm on April 6, and 5 am on April 7, stole a curbside residential mailbox from 13 Shut Road, and also vandalized a mailbox at 20 Shut Road. People with information on the crimes are asked to contact Officer John McCluskey, who is investigating.

Silver Ring Found

Police report that on April 6, a silver finger ring was found at the Orchard Hill Nature Center, a town-owned open space park at 20 Huntingtown Road.

Police are holding the ring for safekeeping. The owner may claim the ring by identifying it at the police station.

Bridle Path Trail Vandalism

Sometime between 10:30 pm on April 6, and 9:30 am on April 7, someone vandalized curbside residential mailboxes at #6 and #8 Bridle Path Trail, police report.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the criminal mischief to contact investigating Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

iPhone Found

Police report that at about 9:36 am on April 7, they learned that a white Apple-brand iPhone was found on Glen Road, near its intersection with Pootatuck Park Road. The cellphone is enclosed in a protective case decorated with sparkles, police said. Police are holding the device for safekeeping. The owner may contact Officer William Hull to claim the cellphone.

Plymouth Hall Trespassing

Police report that at about 2:13 pm on April 7, they received a report from the Fairfield Hills security staff that two youths had been seen on the roof of Plymouth Hall there.

Police said they issued each of the two youths violations for simple trespassing and then released the youths into the custody of their parents. Police did not disclose the youths’ identities because they are under age 18.

When Fairfield Hills was a psychiatric hospital in the past, Plymouth Hall contained a chapel, theater, gymnasium, and workshops.

Riverside Road Accident

A two-vehicle accident occurred near 85 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook about 5:23 pm on April 7.

Police report that motorist Tiffany Lowe, 32, of 138 Underhill Road was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu sedan eastward on Riverside Road, as motorist Marissa Cascella, 20, of 32 Poplar Drive was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Passat sedan westward there.

The Chevrolet crossed the road’s centerline on a curve and collided with the Volkswagen, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Lowe an infraction for failure to keep to the right on a curve.

Altercation

Police said they responded to a restaurant at 75 Glen Road in Sandy Hook after receiving a report that there was a physical fight in progress there at about 7:20 pm on April 7.

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps treated two unspecified people for injuries and released them at the scene, police said.

Police said they issued violations to three people in connection with the fight.

Theodore Smith, Jr, 57, of 138 Underhill Road was charged with third-degree assault, breach of peace and, driving under suspension, police said.

Joseph Golden, 47, of Southbury was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace, police said.

Both men were released on written promises to appear in court on April 18, according to police.

Also, police said they issued Dennie Dyess, no age or address given, an infraction for creating a public disturbance.
