The C.H. Booth Library announces The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows as the title of the book for the 2015 Newtown Reads!

Newtown Reads! is a library-sponsored program intended to encourage all residents of town to read the same book, between May 1 and July 1. The book is appropriate for mature middle school to adult readers.

“Written with warmth and humor as a series of letters, this novel is a celebration of the written word in all its guises, and of finding connection in the most surprising ways,” according to the press release received by The Newtown Bee.

Copies of the book will be available on the second floor of the library, beginning Friday, May 1, and thereafter, for no charge. No library card is required. A Reader’s Guide has also been made available by the library.

A series of events tied to the book will take place through May and June. Events will be posted at chboothlibrary.org and in The Newtown Bee.

The library opens at 11 am on Friday.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is the 2015 Newtown Reads! selection.
