To the Editor:

All of the members of the Commission on Aging would like to say a warm "thank you" to the citizens of Newtown who took the time to vote their approval for the proposed new senior center. It was a confirmation that Newtown understands the importance of having a three-generation community.

"It takes a village" - We've heard that over and over throughout life. With the latest referendum vote, we saw it happen. Besides the budget questions regarding the municipal and BOE budgets, there were six other questions on the ballot. With everything passing, it showed us that the community understood the value of these questions. Without a doubt, everyone, boards, commissions, and numerous volunteers, all worked together educating and sharing information. True transparency and commitment at its best.

Thank you everyone for all your help. We are especially grateful to the many members of the various senior groups in their assistance in explaining and sharing the information. More importantly, our very special thanks go out to the many seniors in our town who supported the senior center referendum proposal. Your votes made all the difference.

Warm regards,

Anna Wiedemann, Commission On Aging Chair

George Guidera, COA Vice Chair
