Lions Club Kicks Off Annual Mustang Car Raffle

The Newtown Lions Club has begun its annual Mustang Car Raffle, the largest and most important fundraising activity sponsored by the lions.

This year’s Mustang is an original 1964½ blue convertible. Last year, a maroon 1966 convertible was the prize.

Proceeds from the raffle will be used to benefit a wide range of community, state, and national projects and charities with a special focus on blindness prevention, research, juvenile diabetes, drug awareness programs, and assistance to the underprivileged.

Last year’s raffle proceeds were used to benefit many programs including the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury, the Danbury Low Vision Center, Meals on Wheels, the Newtown Board of Fire Commissioners, Cyrenius H. Booth Library, Newtown Youth Services, Datahr, and many others. The Lions also contributed to national projects including diabetes awareness and the Lions Club International Fund.

The raffle drawing will be held October 18 at the Newtown Middle School. The winner need not be present at the drawing. Tickets are available from any Lions Club member.
