Works By 50 Photographers To Be Exhibited In
Fairfield Museumâs âImages 2012â
FAIRFIELD â A distinguished panel of expert judges has named 50 winners of Fairfield Museum and History Centerâs âImages 2012â competition from more than 800 entries. The Professional/Serious Amateur and Student winners will display their work throughout the exhibition, which opens May 4 and closes July 22.
An artistâs reception is planned for Friday, May 11, to which the public is invited. The event will begin at 6 pm and will include awards for the photographers accepted into the juried exhibition.
According to Michael Jehle, executive director of the museum, âImages 2012â includes work by photographers from 16 Connecticut towns and seven Massachusetts and New York towns.
Paul Berger of Newtown is among those who will have works on view. His âFramework, Flag and Shadowsâ was selected for this yearâs exhibition, the fourth annual presentation.
âI still use film to shoot all my photographs,â Mr Berger told The Newtown Bee. âI like the results.â

At a later date, one Professional/Serious Amateur winner and one Student winner will be selected as Grand Prize Winners of the competitive exhibition. The Professional/Serious Amateur winner will be given a ten-day exhibition at Southport Galleries, while the Student Grand Prize winner will receive a professional portfolio review with photographers Bill Eppridge and Adrienne Aurichio.
In addition to the 50 winning images, âImages 2012â will showcase a retrospective of the work of Fairfield native Charles Ruger, who lives and works in New York City. Mr Ruger will also be introducing new pieces at the exhibition.
âImagesâ is a highly-regarded juried photography exhibition hosted annually by the museum to celebrate the exceptional work of talented regional photographers.
âThe âImagesâ exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for artists to connect with prominent collectors, gallery owners, fellow photographers and the public,â said Mr Jehle.Â
