June Is Dog License Month, And Time For Annual Rabies Clinic
Newtown residents with dogs 6 months of age and older must license their pets annually during the month of June.
The 2014 licenses are available at the town clerk’s office, within Newtown Municipal Center at 3 Primrose Street, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Current rabies vaccination certificate (not tag) is required. If licensing a dog for the first time, owners need to present a spay/neuter certificate in order to obtain the lower license fee. Fees are $8 for a neutered male or spayed female, and $19 for unaltered dogs.
Licenses can also be ordered through the mail; contact the town clerk’s office at 203-270-4210 to find out what is needed for that option.
In addition, the town clerk’s office will also be sponsoring a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, June 14, from 10 am to noon, in the Edmond Town Hall gymnasium, 45 Main Street.
The fee for the rabies clinic for dogs and cats is $20.
During the first week of July, Town Clerk Debbie Aurelia Halstead will be drawing a license from all those that have registered through June 30 to determine who will be the #1 Dog of Newtown.
