School Bus Accident

Police report an accident involving a town school bus carrying ten students and a tractor-trailer truck hauling lumber about 7:21 am May 31 on Wasserman Way, at the Exit 11 on-ramp of Interstate 84.

There were no injuries in the accident, police said.

Police said Theresa Diamond, 38, of Bethel was driving a 2000 International Model 3000 school bus in the right lane of the two westbound lanes of Wasserman Way, when the truck, which was in the left westbound lane, passed the school bus and was turning left onto the highway’s on-ramp. As the truck made the left turn, its trailer struck the school bus’s exterior driver-side mirror and swing-out stop sign, police report.

The truck continued moving and entered the on-ramp, driving away from the scene, police said.

Police are investigating the accident.
