Mary Louise O'Donnell Mikita

Mary Louise O'Donnell Mikita, 74, died peacefully at home in Sandy Hook May 31, with her loving family by her side.spadaccinofuneralhome.com.

Born on June 24, 1941, in Strong, Maine, she was the youngest of nine children of the late William and Elza Takacs O'Donnell. A resident of Connecticut since 1944, Mrs Mikita was a 1959 graduate of Bridgeport's Bassick High school. After raising her children, she held various factory manufacturing positions, at Dual Lite of Newtown and OEM Controls of Shelton, until her retirement.

Married to Donald Frank Mikita, on April 20, 1963, they had two daughters, Tammy and Terri. In 1973, they built a home and settled in Sandy Hook. Mrs Mikita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed gardening, travel, reading, her cats and birdwatching. She will be greatly missed.

Her husband of 53 years and her daughters, Tammy Mikita of Sandy Hook and Terri French of Woodbury, survive her. Mrs Mikita is also survived by her precious grandchildren; her sister, Carol (Tootie) LeBlanc, and her husband Lester, and her brother, John O'Donnell, and his wife Bonnie, all of Springhill, Florida; as well as several other sisters- and brothers-in-law. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear and loving friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, June 11, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown.

The Mikita family would like to thank caregivers, family and friends for their compassion during Mrs Mikita's illness.
