The public is invited to join staff and administration of the C.H. Booth Library for a fun and happy retirement celebration honoring longtime assistant director Beryl Harrison. The event will run from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, Friday, June 11, on the library patio at 25 Main Street. Harrison has also served as interim director and reference librarian of the library over the years.

COVID-19 prevented a gathering to celebrate her retirement last year, so it is time to crack out the party hats.

At 5 pm, Library Director Douglas Lord and others will be sharing reminiscences and words about Harrison.

Drop in any time between 4:30 and 6:30 pm to help honor her 30-plus years of dedicated service to the community of Newtown.

Ferris Acres Ice Cream will be scooping, music will be playing, and summer will be upon us.

Face masks should be warned unless people are eating.

In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be rescheduled or move inside the library.

Beryl Harrison, C.H. Booth’s longtime reference librarian, was the recipient of the Labor Day Parade “Legends and Pioneers Award” in 2019. A COVID-19 delayed celebration will honor her June 11. The public is invited. —Bee file photo
