The following letter has been received by the Editor for publication in The Newtown Bee:

Dear Newtown Community,

At the end of our last Board of Education meeting, long-time Board of Education member Rebekah Harriman announced that she was resigning from the Board. The Board recognizes and appreciates her many years of commitment and accomplishments and wishes her well.

There is now an open seat on the Board that, according to our Town Charter, remaining members have 30 days to fill with a member of the same party.

If you are a registered Democrat and are interested in serving our community, please send your resume and/or letter of introduction to me at: zukowskid_boe@newtown.k12.ct.us by July 7.

You are also welcome to provide your information to Kathy June at the District’s Central Office in the Municipal Center.

The Board looks forward to hearing from you and hopes that we can fill Rebekah’s shoes with another who is willing and able to help us continue our work of ensuring that every Newtown student flourishes.
