William Weiss

William Weiss, 87, of Newtown, passed away on June 27 at Bethel Health Care in Bethel.

He was born in Czechoslovakia and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. A graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, Mr Weiss was an electrical engineer.

During World War II he operated a factory in New Milford for the manufacture of Thomson submachine guns for the US Army. For most of his career he ran his own company, WWW International, and was affiliated with several Japanese companies engaged in the import, export, and marketing of electronic products. In recent years he was a consultant to Japanese companies dealing in dental products.

He is survived by his wife, Carmel (O’Neill) Weiss; a son, Mark; a daughter, Betsy; four grandchildren, Blair, Harris, Jarrett, and Evan; and three stepchildren, Stephen, Terri and Shelley. He was predeceased by his first wife, Iris, and a son, Leslie.

Services and interment were private. Burial was in Mt Hebron Cemetery, Flushing, N.Y.

Parkside Chapel in Forest Hills, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements.
