Business background: Beth Buscher: This month is the 40th anniversary of Dermatology Associates of Western Connecticut.

Our first office was in Danbury, and we considered it our main hub. It was originally on West Street in Danbury and had been on Sand Pit Road in Danbury for the last 35 years. We later opened offices in New Milford, Ridgefield, and Southbury.

We left our office in Danbury on Friday, May 3, moved over the weekend, and had our soft opening in Newtown on Monday, May 6.

It has been a work in progress over the last year building this office in Newtown and working with the architects. We not only see patients here, but we have all our administrative offices here, so we wanted a structurally newer place and a larger space.

We’re very excited to be here, and our staff have been really liking it. Our patients have been very positive, too.

Business focus: We are a general dermatology practice, which encompasses everything from acne to warts to rashes to skin cancer detections and skin cancer treatments. We have both a medical part of dermatology and a surgical part of dermatology.

Dr Eickhorst is our Mohs surgeon. She does skin cancer surgery, mostly when it is on the face, and we want to spare as much tissue as possible. It’s a very specific surgery to reduce scarring and give you the highest cure rate.

All of us in the practice generally do some components of cosmetics, too. We have a hair removal laser, a non-ablative resurfacing laser, and an intense pulsed light in this office. We offer injectables, from Botox to different hyaluronic acid fillers.

We also offer specific product lines for medical dermatology, acne patients, sunscreens, as well as cosmetic patients.

Important to know: We’re a good size group, but we have become a family. We work together and have the same staff. Also, we take it to heart that we treat families, from little babies all the way to elderly patients. We become part of their lives, and they become part of our lives.

Specials: We offer procedural and product specials monthly that we send as e-blasts for our patients. We also have an aesthetician on staff, Crissy Dowling, who works here and at our New Milford office. She offers facials, waxing, microdermabrasion, and there is always a spa special as well.

Hours: Monday through Friday, appointments usually start at 8:15 am, with the last appointment of the day at 4:45 pm. Saturday hours are offered once or twice a month from 8:15 am to noon. A Wednesday evening is offered once a month.
