MEET THE ARTISTS AND ARTISANS AT MYSTIC-OLDE MISTICK VILLAGE w/1 cut

MYSTIC, CONN. — Meet the artists and artisans at Mystic-Olde Mistick Village’s 35th annual summer show July 19 and 20, from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission is free and the show will be held rain or shine.

A great selection of juried fine artists and handcrafters from ten states will present, discuss, demonstrate and sell their original work in the Apple Orchard on Route 27, Coogan’s Boulevard.

Featured and returning exhibitors include Mary Beagle of Coventry, Conn., whose carefully rendered interpretive oil paintings of wildlife and the people of Mesilla Valley, Las Cruces, N.M., include children in folkloric costumes and generational portraiture. From Maine, John Burr will show acrylic, reverse painting on glass and impressions; Lee Coulter brings wind-activated kinetic sculptures in brass and copper from Rhode Island.

Also, Denise Morris Curt brings silenced cellos, violins and bass instruments, painted with oil, tempera, gem and jewel pigments to illuminate the ancient stilled instruments; Bruce Dumas shows realistic acrylic paintings of coastal New England’s shoreline, harbors, homes and wildlife; and Anne Vaillencourt brings original watercolor and pastel paintings of country scenes and roadways, landscapes and floral studies in tranquil gardens.

Photographers include Maine’s Marty Harris with black and white outdoors and seasonal selections; Rhode Island’s Charles Hull with giclée prints on gallery canvas and luscious fruit still life portraits, regional and historic landmarks; Romantic Renaissance Reflections; Maine’s Herman Meissner brings black and white photos on sea shells, glass, stone. Tamara Weaver, Glass Weaver Studio, Ohio, will bring kiln cast glass and hand carved relief forms.

Demonstrating exhibitors are Bill Dougal, on site caricatures; Anna Liss, polymer clay Victorian 3D jewelry; Kenneth Lindgren, turned and unique wooden vessels, bowls and sculptures of local and exotic wood; and Brian and Adar O’Hare do high-fired functional wheel thrown pottery and garden vases.

Among the items available for purchase will be handmade quilts, painted decorative gourds, children’s clothing with matching doll wardrobes; antique window framed dried botanical flowers; hand felted and pieced scarves, ponchos, blankets, hats; sand blasted glass objects and marine paintings; household linens, fabric home and purse accessories; mosaic frames and stepping stones.

Also, wooden pens and jewel cases, needlepoint pillows; ceramic and copper wind chimes, tile house numbers; herbal soaps, lotions, butters; and coordinated placemats, table runners and tablecloth toppers;

Providence Glass will bring hand blown glass and colorful sculptures; Fire Witch will offer artistic stoneware, embellished with beads, glass and peacock feathers; The Tischlers will show sculptural, figurative, painted and glazed pottery with whimsical decorative faces; and Mike Iacona will bring three-dimensional inlaid wood marquetry wall hangings.
