Business background: TJ: We opened just under two months ago. I was born and raised here in Sandy Hook — I went to Hawley School, Newtown Middle School, and Newtown High School. I live right up the street. It has been that American Dream [for me] to have a business in your own town with people you grew up with. I worked in Newtown as a hairdresser for 15 years before this.

Marie: I’m from Watertown and have been working in Newtown for the past five years. I met TJ at the beginning of those five years, and we decided to do this venture together.

Business focus: TJ: We provide haircuts, color, smoothing treatments, and all types of highlighting treatments. Marie also does makeup. Appointments can be booked through our website and Instagram.

Right now, we are working with Redken. It’s great for brand recognition with both clientele and hairdressers. I’ve worked with Redken many years in the past, and I feel it’s also a great, realistic price point.

Important to know: TJ: I think hairdressers and clientele have such a unique relationship — there’s a trust there. I really believe in continuing that trust and keeping it more personal. When you come here, from start to finish, you’ll be dealing with Marie or me from the time you make your appointment. A lot of my clients in the past have always loved that I try to be the one shampooing them, so they’re not seeing three other people in their visit. That’s why we kept it here, kept it small and manageable — to maintain that old-school feel.

Hours: Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 am to 7 pm; Friday, from 10 am to 5 pm; Saturday, from 8 am to 2 pm; closed Sunday and Monday.
