Arlene D. Carlson (Camarota)

Arlene D. Carlson (Camarota), of Newtown, born January 4, 1940, passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on July 20, 2022. For the past two years, Arlene struggled with Alzheimer’s disease.

Arlene leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Walter; her daughters, Kathleen Sistare Knapp and Sarah Carlson-Hoch; her son-in-laws, Robert Knapp and Robert Hoch; and her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Tristan Sistare and Joshua, Alex, and Spencer Hoch.

Arlene was the owner of Boyd’s Hallmark and Gift Stores in Wilton, Brookfield, and Newtown over the span of 40 years.

She was an active member of the St Rose Prayer Circle and visited the sick at Danbury and New Milford hospitals for 14 years. She was an active member of Walnut Hill Church for 16 years, where she started the Thanksgiving Basket program for the needy. She was an active member of the Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study Fellowship. Arlene hosted small Bible Study groups in her home.

Arlene will be remembered by all for her generous baking and cooking she served to others. Her gift of hospitality will be missed by all. Arlene truly lived to serve others. Arlene attended Newtown Christian Church for 14 years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 10:30 am, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home on Monday July 25, 2022, from 4 to 7 pm.
