To the Editor,

The Friends just completed a very successful 45th annual book sale. Our sincere appreciation goes to the donors, volunteers, town officials, school personnel, and local businesses who contributed to that success.

It is thanks to generous Newtown neighbors who donated books and other items that the sale was even possible.

We are grateful to all of our volunteers, but especially to those who volunteer year-round. Thanks also go to members of the NHS girls’ cheerleading squad and girls’ soccer team (coaches Susan Bridges, Marc Kenney, respectively), and many other NHS students who did the important task of helping us move books.

Town officials and school personnel provide support throughout the year. Many thanks go to First Selectman Dan Rosenthal, Borough Warden Jim Gaston, and Public Works Director Fred Hurley; the library board of trustees, director and staff; and Land Use Agency and Police Department. District Director of Facilities Bob Gerbert, RIS Principal Matt Correia and staff (especially the custodians), and Noreen Morgenstern and Matt Memoli at NHS.

We appreciate the support of Armstrong Movers, Associated Refuse Haulers (Pat Caruso), Bagel Delight (Eunice Laverty), Big Y, Capri’s Pizzeria, Caraluzzi’s Market, Carminuccio’s Pizza (Eddie Martino), Costco, Dunkin’ (Jeff Dymerski), Durant’s Party Rentals, Franco’s Pizza and Pasta (Poliana Primo), Lion’s Bleeker Street (Denis Dimi), My Place Restaurant (Louise Tambascio), Tambascio’s (John Tambascio), Newtown Savings Bank, Papa Al’s (Fiat Islami), Pudelz Tee Shirts (Jane Hellman), Sal e Pepe (Angelo Marini), The Sign Shoppe, Shadow Graphics (Jules Falconer), Stew Leonard’s, Stop and Shop, and Villarina’s (Ingrid Schneider).

Last but not least, many thanks to The Newtown Bee for their excellent coverage of this iconic Newtown summer event.

Monies raised during the book sale fund the Friends’ annual grant to our wonderful town library for programs, the acquisition of books, media, and various special endeavors.

Sincerely,

Toni Earnshaw

President, Friends of the C.H. Booth Library
